Zhibin Xing has been in this position for more than 10 years, whose supporters praise her broadcasting style as "correct generous sitting respectfully, enunciating precisely and resounding", while whose opponents, led by Hongming Ye, CPPCC National Committee, submitting a proposal of "Let 'News Hookup' change compere" in two Conferences of China, thinking that "it's an indisputable fact that the broadcasters have such an aging structure reflected on the screen and the style of broadcasting is increasingly outdated, boring, and make the audience feel tired, single facial expression, dull eyes, with no vigor and vitality.”
It's rare in the world that member of the CPPCC National Committee submits proposals for a TV announcer in two Conferences of China. Whether to support or oppose the side, all approved the proposal in the positioning of this program: "CCTV 'News Hookup' as a famous column which is the most authoritative and has the highest ratings of China, is not only an important channel for people to understand the matters of nation, but also one of the important windows for international community to understand China's reform and opening-up. In a sense, the TV announcer of 'News Hookup' has the nature of spokesman of the country and stands for the country's overall image.” Therefore, the TV announcers also are called "national face." Since the several faces stand for the national image, they are no longer faces of TV announcers and they have become a ritual and cultural symbol. Then it definitely emphasizes the continuity and stability not in the form of daily updated content. So, everyone will understand why "News Hookup" always has little change in the content during many years.
"News Hookup" is actually the most authoritative and most important news program as we know, because it has a monopoly of news resources and administrative resources. The question lies in here: if a monopoly of news resources still exists, it doesn't matter whether retaining old compere or using new compere.
But it's unfair for other news medias. That is why the confusion of Yongyuan Cui，a well-known compere of CCTV, confused whether CCTV is a public television or commercial television in the end. Some researchers believe that "if we look at the issue not from the name of the institution, but from the essence of the management, CCTV is fully commercial television stations." That is to say, in the content, it's in the name of news, presents the form; in the management, it's in the name of ceremony and performs the commerce. It reaps all the benefits so that the other medias who long to do news and people who long to see news feel disappointed.
Open news resources, discharge administrative resources, and make other commercial medias have the opportunity to compete. Then, you can play all the roles as you like.
